Our History
Three generations, one root — a shared love for the land of Rhamnous.
Our story begins in 1970, when our great-grandmother, guided by instinct and passion, planted the first vines in the historic land of Rhamnous, in Marathon—just a short distance from Athens. There, among pine trees, wild herbs, and the salty breeze of the Evoean Gulf, the bond between our family, the vineyard, and time itself was born.
In 1999, the Zeginis family took the next step, creating our own small winery in Marathon. With respect for the land and dedication to quality, we began producing wines that truly express our terroir—honest, unpretentious, and authentic Greek wines.
In 2019, Chrysanthi Zeginis, second generation and trained oenologist, returned to the family winery after her studies. She brought with her new knowledge, a fresh perspective, and a clear vision: to honor our tradition while evolving it, and to share the wines of Rhamnous with the world.
Today, Zeginis Winery remains a family story at heart. We cultivate with care, craft our wines with consistency, and welcome you personally to our winery near Athens.

Philosophy
Where tradition meets science, our wines are crafted with precision, passion, and deep respect for the land.
At Zeginis Winery, we believe great wine is born in the vineyard—and shaped through knowledge. With respect for the land of Rhamnous, near Marathon and Athens, we carefully follow every step, from vine to bottle. Chrysanthi Zeginis, second generation winemaker and holder of a Master of Science in Enology from the University of Bordeaux, brings a fresh perspective to the winery, combining international experience with scientific expertise. During her studies, she conducted research at the renowned Château Mouton Rothschild, focusing on key aspects of wine quality, aging, and complexity. Her scientific approach allows us to see winemaking not only as an art, but also as a field of research and continuous development. In our fully equipped, in-house laboratory, we carry out detailed analyses at every stage of the winemaking process. This enables us to closely monitor each vintage and consciously shape the profile of every wine we produce. We work with respect for indigenous Greek varieties such as Savatiano and Assyrtiko, while also exploring international grapes like Chardonnay and Merlot. Through gentle intervention, controlled fermentations with selected yeasts, maturation techniques such as bâtonnage, and the use of different vessels, we aim to craft wines with a clear identity—wines that express both our terroir and our know-how.
